- What is SuncoastRx?
- SuncoastRx is a new, fee-based consumer advocacy service that helps people who have difficulty paying for the prescription drugs that their doctor has prescribed. We identify programs that help you get your expensive medication for free - or for a very low cost - compared to the retail cost you might have to pay if you are uninsured.
- Who is behind SuncoastRx?
- SuncoastRx is a service of Solucin, LLC, which was founded in 2011 in Bradenton, Fla. We began this effort because we saw how many people in Manatee County were affected by the economic downturn that hit Southwest Florida particularly hard. We are putting our expertise in retail pharmacy and our entrepreneurial spirit to work to help lower prescription drug costs for those affected the most by the recession.
- How does SuncoastRx work?
- There are company-sponsored programs and organizations that are designed to assist lower-income families in paying for, or covering the cost of, brand name and generic prescription drugs. The problem is finding them, sifting through which ones fit you (i.e. ones in which you qualify) and completing the not-so-simple paperwork to the satisfaction of the bureaucratic eyes of these sponsoring organizations. Translation: It’s hard to qualify. We help you qualify.
- Why is the SuncoastRx service only available in Southwest Florida?
- Initially, our focus is on Manatee, Sarasota, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Polk counties; the Suncoast of Florida, since we wish to help our neighbors first and foremost. If you are not in one of these counties please contact us anyway. We may be able to put you in touch with a service in your “neck of the woods.”
- If I have insurance, do I qualify?
- Sometimes; most programs are looking for the following: people without insurance or who are in the Medicare Donut Hole, households making less than 250% above the poverty line and/or those who are U.S. Residents. There are exceptions. Some programs accept those who are as much as 400% above the poverty line. Others are available even if you have insurance. Contact us to learn if you might qualify.
- What are your fees?
-
SuncoastRx regularly works with people that are struggling to pay their bills so we recognize the service we provide must be affordable. That’s why, even with our fee added in, we will always return a minimum of 90% of the prescription drug savings back to you.
Have a $300 drug? If we help you qualify you’ll never pay more than $30 per month and many times less than that! Have a $75 monthly prescription? You’ll never pay more than $7.50 each month. Contact us to learn more.
- Does it work with Medicare or other private insurance?
- Maybe; many programs will allow those on Medicare Part D to qualify when they are in the donut hole. Other programs will provide a means to lower copay costs even if you have insurance. Contact us to discuss your situation.
- How much time will this take me?
- Most phone interviews can be completed within 10-15 minutes. The only additional time needed is however long it takes you to collect proper documentation and have your doctor sign your application.
- When will I know if I’ve been approved?
- You should have an answer in about two weeks, sometimes less. Occasionally, we may need to contact you with additional questions.
- Okay, I’m ready to call to learn more. What kind of information should I have ready before I do?
- You should be ready to answer, and able to document, the following questions:
- Are you a U.S. Resident?
- What is your social security number? (This is a requirement by the program sponsor on most applications.)
- What is your monthly income?
- What is your household’s monthly income? (Documentation required)
- Do you have insurance?
- What is the name of your drug?
- How many milligrams (MG) is your prescription for?
- How many pills per day did your doctor prescribe for you?
- What is your prescribing physician’s name and address?
- There are some additional questions, but you get the idea.
